Folk Culture Museum in Węgorzewo – treasury of Masurian tradition

At ul. Portowa 1 in Węgorzewo, 10 km from Poza Zgiełkiem, is one of the town's highest-rated attractions – the Folk Culture Museum. The exhibits here tell the story of everyday life in Masuria: crafts, costumes, tools, folk sculpture and traditions that shaped this land over centuries.

What to see in the museum?

The permanent exhibition includes reconstructions of traditional craftsmen's workshops, a collection of agricultural and fishing tools, and folk sculpture – wooden figurines and decorated chests characteristic of Masurian and Warmian culture. Particular highlights include antique household items, including unique examples of historical kitchenware and ceramic vessels. The museum regularly organises craft workshops for children and adults.

Ethnographic Park – open-air skansen

The museum complex includes an Ethnographic Park – an open-air skansen presenting traditional Masurian village architecture: cottages, barns, granaries and windmills. The buildings were relocated here from surrounding villages and faithfully restored to their original form. A walk through the park is a journey through time – revealing what life on a Masurian village looked like a hundred years ago.
